Bridging the Participation Gap: Citizens’ Satisfaction on Governance and Education in Karaga District

Simba Ghana, under the I Am Aware (IAA) Project, has released a new Citizens’ Satisfaction Survey highlighting key issues in governance and education service delivery in the Karaga District.

The study, conducted across 10 communities, reveals that while 59% of citizens trust the Assembly’s intentions, a significant 75% feel excluded from decision-making processes. Low participation in town hall meetings and concerns about responsiveness continue to affect public confidence.

In the education sector, school enrollment remains high (81%), with strong parental involvement (79%). However, major challenges persist, including teacher shortages and poor school infrastructure, with 61% of respondents reporting unsafe or inadequate school facilities.

The report calls for improved transparency, citizen engagement, and investment in education infrastructure to ensure that community voices translate into real development outcomes.
